CEO | Partner
Corey, based in Burlington and a Carleton University graduate, is the innovative CEO of Independent Insurance Managers. Known to some as “The Submission King,” he excels at transforming insurance submissions into compelling narratives that highlight clients’ strengths. Outside of work, Corey is dedicated to his wife and family, enjoys golfing, having a good time with friends, and values creativity and meaningful connections in all aspects of life.
Sean Kennedy
President | Partner
Sean resides in Burlington, Ontario, with his wife and two children. After graduating from Brock University in 2010, he embarked on his insurance career. His dedication and expertise have been instrumental in building Independent Insurance Managers into a leading brokerage.
Sean thrives on human connection. Our team employs the industry’s most advanced technology for business risk management, yet we uphold a boutique, people-first approach. This involves getting to know our clients personally and crafting insurance solutions tailored to their specific needs.
Outside of work and family life, Sean is passionate about golf, hockey, and cooking.
Devon Thoms
Vice President | Partner
Devon has more than a decade of experience as a commercial insurance broker and is currently working on his CRM (Certified Risk Manager) designation. He grew up in Bolton, Ontario, and studied Insurance & Risk Management at Fanshawe College, where he began cultivating a deep knowledge and understanding of the commercial insurance industry. Devon has helped make Independent Insurance Managers a leading independent, commercial-focused brokerage. He personifies our promise to clients as a highly professional service brokerage that brings true value to our clientele. Devon has built long-lasting relationships with his clients by ensuring they get the best value out of their insurance policies.
In his downtime, he enjoys golfing, playing hockey, traveling, and exploring different flavors of cooking.
Andrew Laird
Vice President of Operations
Andrew Laird, Vice President of Operations at Independent Insurance Managers, is a McMaster University alum with a proven track record in optimizing operational processes. Hailing from Caledon East, Andrew brings a strategic vision and a deep understanding of the intricacies of operations management.
Andrew has played a pivotal role in driving the success of numerous projects and initiatives at Independent Insurance Managers. His leadership and expertise have significantly contributed to the company’s growth and efficiency.
Beyond the boardroom, Andrew is a sports enthusiast, channeling his dedication and competitive spirit into his golf game.
